Butte
Falls was incorporated in 1911 and was formed as a logging
town. The logging industry has pretty much died out here,
but there still are a few. We are surrounded by timber on
all sides. I do believe we are in Ripely's Believe It Or
Not for being the only town in the United States that has
a fence around it. The fence is to keep the cows out (free
range) but sometimes we like to say it's to keep the people
in. Our population is 435 and since we are fenced in there
is virtually no room for growth. We have clean air and the
best drinking water around, coming from Ginger Springs.
We
are in the process of creating a water bottling plant to
produce bottled spring water. This has been a very long process
and
is continually ongoing.
We
have a mayor and six council members that oversee the town
and try and keep it on track. We also
have many volunteers in this community with hugh hearts
that see that things get done.
